MUMBAI : The Gautam Adani-led company will invest ₹21,000 crore to set up the plant and related infrastructure, significantly boosting its power generation portfolio.

The latest award comes after the MP Power Management Company (MPPMCL) granted an additional 800 MW order on Thursday, following a similar contract last month. Both orders together amount to 1,600 MW, with a cumulative project value of ₹210 billion ($2.38 billion).

The project will be developed under the “Greenshoe Option” in Anuppur district, Madhya Pradesh, on a Design, Build, Finance, Own, and Operate (DBFOO) model. Fuel for the plant will be sourced from coal linkages allocated under India’s SHAKTI Policy. According to Adani Power, the project will be completed within 60 months from the appointed date.

The tariff for the supply of electricity has been fixed at ₹5.838/kWh for both contracts. Once operational, the plant will supply power to millions of households across central India, contributing to the state’s energy security and economic growth.

Adani Power noted that this marks its fifth major power supply order in just 12 months, pushing its total awarded capacity to 7,200 MW. Currently, the company operates 18.15 GW of capacity across 12 thermal plants in states including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Tamil Nadu. It also operates a 40 MW solar project in Gujarat.

Looking ahead, Adani Power aims to expand its generation capacity to 41.87 GW by 2031-32.
