EU unlocks €88 million in fresh aid for Palestinian Authority

The European Union has announced a new financial commitment of nearly €88 million to support the Palestinian Authority (PA).

BRUSSELS : EU Commissioner Dubravka Suica confirmed the pledge following a major donors’ conference held in Brussels on Tuesday. “We have signed more than 82 million euros, in addition to the six million euros that were previously announced,” Suica told reporters, noting that the newly released funds reflect the bloc’s continued engagement with the Palestinian leadership.

Suica underscored that the assistance is closely tied to governance and institutional reforms. “All our support for the Palestinian Authority is linked to efforts aimed at implementing the reform program,” she said, highlighting the EU’s push for strengthened accountability, stability, and public-sector improvements.

The conference brought together around 60 delegations, including representatives from all 27 EU member states, several Arab nations, and major international organizations. The meeting focused on mobilizing coordinated support to address the PA’s financial strain and ensure the continuity of essential services in the West Bank.
