MUMBAI : The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) announced that finishing activities are now underway, marking a key step toward India’s first high-speed rail network.

According to NHSRCL, the stations at Sabarmati, Ahmedabad, Anand, Vadodara, Bharuch, Surat, Bilimora, and Vapi are entering the final stage of development, with interiors, roofing, and passenger amenities being put in place. The 508-km Mumbai–Ahmedabad corridor, India’s first bullet train project, aims to redefine travel with faster, more comfortable, and sustainable services.

NHSRCL said the stations are being designed as “symbols of world-class travel, comfort, and convenience.” Each facility will reflect the cultural identity of its city, featuring modern interiors, natural lighting, and open spaces to create a calm travel environment.

Sustainability is central to the design. Solar panels are being installed at select locations, skylights will reduce reliance on artificial lighting, and rainwater harvesting systems will recharge groundwater. Sewage treatment plants will recycle water, while eco-friendly paints, tiles, and materials are being used throughout construction.

For passengers, the stations will include multiple lifts and escalators for accessibility, spacious waiting lounges, childcare rooms, business facilities, food courts, and retail outlets. Major hubs, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Sabarmati, and Surat, will also serve as multimodal transport centers, seamlessly connecting with Indian Railways, metro networks, buses, and taxis. Dedicated parking facilities are being built at all stations.
