DUBAI – The UAE has launched a major national campaign to establish itself as the world’s leading hub for entrepreneurship, announced His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
The initiative, titled “UAE: The Global Capital of Entrepreneurship,” will bring together more than 50 government and private sector institutions to mentor and support 10,000 Emirati entrepreneurs. It aims to generate thousands of business opportunities, strengthen small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and embed entrepreneurship as a cornerstone of the national economy.
“Sheikh Mohammed said the programme seeks to encourage young Emiratis to build businesses of their own, contribute to economic growth, and make use of the UAE’s dynamic market environment. “We want our youth to create companies, innovate, and seize opportunities offered by our economy,” he said.
The campaign will provide training, guidance, and investment opportunities, as well as raise public awareness of entrepreneurship’s role in diversification and sustainable growth.
SMEs already make up more than 63 percent of the UAE’s non-oil GDP, and the country hosts around 50 business incubators. The UAE consistently ranks among the top nations for supporting small businesses and fostering a competitive business environment.
As part of the programme, the UAE Cabinet will introduce further initiatives, while urging both public institutions and private companies to collaborate in building a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem that cements the nation’s global leadership in this sector.
