US-Iran deal in sight? 15-point plan targets nuclear, missiles, Hormuz

The United States has reportedly sent Iran a 15-point proposal aimed at ending the ongoing conflict, placing strict conditions on Tehran’s nuclear and military activities.

WASHINGTON : According to officials, the proposal, delivered through intermediaries, largely reflects earlier demands made during the Trump administration. At its core, the plan calls on Iran to dismantle its three primary nuclear facilities and halt all uranium enrichment activities within its territory.

The document also outlines broader security expectations, including the suspension of Iran’s ballistic missile programme, a reduction in its support for regional proxy groups, and the full reopening of the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz to ensure uninterrupted global energy flows.

In return, the United States has offered to lift nuclear-related sanctions and provide assistance for Iran’s civilian nuclear programme, while maintaining oversight and monitoring mechanisms.

The proposal mirrors a framework discussed prior to the outbreak of hostilities on February 28, when former President Donald Trump accused Iran of failing to negotiate in good faith. However, Iran’s current hardline leadership is reportedly seeking stronger concessions, including reparations for damages sustained during weeks of conflict.

Despite the tensions, Trump expressed optimism about a potential breakthrough, stating on Tuesday that Iran appears more open to negotiations. “They’d like to make a deal,” he said during an Oval Office address, adding, “They’ve agreed they will never have a nuclear weapon.”

A new US-Iran proposal aims to dismantle Iran's nuclear facilities and halt uranium enrichment, while also addressing missile programs and regional influence. In exchange, the US offers to lift sanctions and support Iran's civilian nuclear efforts. Despite past tensions, optimism for a deal remains as Iran shows willingness to negotiate.
