New Delhi – Team India will head into the Asia Cup without a front-of-jersey sponsor after fantasy sports platform Dream11 ended its agreement with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
The exit follows the enforcement of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025, which prohibits advertising and sponsorship by real-money gaming companies, including fantasy sports operators. The legislation effectively forced Dream11 to pull out of the high-value deal.
Dream11 had signed a three-year contract with the BCCI in 2023, estimated at around ₹358 crore, making it the team’s principal jersey sponsor. The partnership now ends prematurely, though the company is shielded from financial penalties due to legal provisions in the contract that account for regulatory changes.
BCCI officials confirmed that Dream11 formally communicated its withdrawal over the weekend. “The contract cannot continue under the new law. We respect the company’s decision,” a board source said.
The sudden development leaves the Indian cricket team without a title sponsor less than three weeks before the Asia Cup 2025, which begins on September 9 in the UAE. The BCCI will need to float a new tender and fast-track negotiations if it hopes to secure a replacement sponsor before the high-profile tournament, which includes the much-anticipated clash against Pakistan on September 14 in Dubai.
Unless a deal is finalized in time, India may take the field in the Asia Cup without any brand on the front of their jerseys—a rare occurrence in modern cricket.
