Kuwait bans Roblox over child safety concerns

Kuwait has officially blocked access to the popular online gaming platform Roblox, citing concerns over children’s safety and exposure to violent and inappropriate content.

KUWAIT CITY : The move was confirmed by the country’s Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority on Thursday.

The decision follows growing complaints from parents and agencies warning that Roblox exposes young players to harmful material, including violent scenes, aggressive behavior, and interactions deemed inappropriate for children.

The regulator said the ban falls under its legal mandate to protect users in Kuwait’s digital space and that the measure was necessary to safeguard children from risks posed by the platform.

Roblox, a global platform that allows users to create, play, and interact in virtual worlds, has faced similar scrutiny in several countries over issues linked to violent and explicit content being accessible to minors.

This week, Kuwait’s Ministry of Information formally requested the Ministry of Communications to block the platform, citing its potential dangers to children and growing public pressure. Critics of Roblox argue that it undermines moral values, threatens social norms, and normalizes violence among young users.
