MANILA : In an official advisory, Philippine Airlines announced that the precautionary suspension affects multiple routes linking the Philippines to key Gulf cities. The affected flights include PR 654/655 (Manila–Riyadh–Manila), PR 658/659 (Manila–Dubai–Manila), PR 684 (Manila–Doha), and PR 685 (Doha–Manila).
Additionally, PAL confirmed that flight PR 685 from Doha to Manila scheduled for March 29 has also been cancelled.
The airline said the decision was taken to ensure the safety of passengers, crew, and aircraft amid the current regional environment, which has created operational challenges in certain airspace corridors and airport operations.
“Given the current environment, PAL has determined that temporarily suspending these services is the most prudent course of action while conditions remain fluid,” the airline said in a statement. It added that the carrier continues to monitor developments closely and is coordinating with aviation authorities and relevant stakeholders to determine when normal operations can safely resume.
Passengers affected by the cancellations have been offered flexible travel options. These include free rebooking once services resume, conversion of tickets into travel credits for future travel, or full refunds in accordance with the airline’s policies. PAL said its customer service teams are assisting travellers through its website, contact centre, and ticket offices.
The airline noted that a large number of travellers on these routes are overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who regularly travel between their workplaces in the Gulf and their families in the Philippines. PAL reiterated its commitment to supporting Filipino travellers while maintaining the highest safety standards.
Philippine Airlines has suspended flights to key Gulf cities until March 28 due to safety concerns. Routes affected include Manila to Riyadh, Dubai, and Doha. The airline is offering flexible travel options to passengers, including rebooking, travel credits, or refunds. The decision aims to ensure passenger safety amid operational challenges in the region.
