NEW DELHI : Coffee Day Enterprises Ltd (CDEL), the operator of Café Coffee Day, has reported improved financial performance in the first quarter of FY26, narrowing its consolidated net loss to ₹11 crore from ₹17 crore a year earlier. Revenue from operations rose 6% year-on-year to ₹263 crore, compared with ₹248 crore in the same quarter last year.

The coffee chain’s operating metrics remained steady, with average daily sales at ₹20,747 per day per café, marginally lower than ₹20,772 in Q1 FY25, but slightly higher than ₹20,477 in Q4 FY25.

Café Coffee Day’s store count declined to 427 outlets, down from 448 a year ago, reflecting the company’s focus on rationalising its retail presence. However, its vending machine business expanded, with the installed base rising to 55,189 units, a 1.3% increase year-on-year.

At the consolidated level, CDEL posted a net profit of ₹23.3 crore, reversing a loss of ₹13.3 crore in the year-ago quarter. Total revenue climbed 3.5% to ₹269.3 crore. The turnaround was supported by exceptional gains, including ₹18.6 crore from loan settlements and ₹16.4 crore from adjustments related to invoked Coffee Day Global shares.

EBITDA for the quarter surged 77% year-on-year to ₹76 crore, underscoring the company’s improved financial footing despite ongoing challenges in its core café business.

Café Coffee Day, once India’s largest café chain, continues to restructure its operations while leveraging its strong vending machine network to drive stable growth.
