Washington: US Treasury Secretary Scott Besant is scheduled to meet Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng and other senior officials in the Spanish capital as part of his European tour, which includes visits to Spain and the UK from September 12 to 18.

The agenda will cover trade, economic issues, and national security concerns, alongside discussions on the social media platform TikTok, according to the Treasury’s statement. While the exact date of the Madrid talks has not yet been confirmed, they follow earlier rounds of negotiations in Geneva, London, and Stockholm.

China’s Vice Premier He Lifeng, who chaired previous negotiations, is expected to once again lead Beijing’s delegation.
