BEIJING : According to figures released by the State Administration of Foreign Exchange, China’s total trade exchange reached 5.28 trillion yuan (approximately US$758 billion) during the month.

The goods sector was the main contributor to the surplus, posting a positive balance of 853.3 billion yuan. Exports stood at 2.66 trillion yuan, significantly outpacing imports and underpinning the overall trade performance.

This robust surplus in goods trade helped offset a deficit in the services sector, which widened to 96.6 billion yuan. The services shortfall was attributed to higher imports of services compared to exports during the same period.

Summary

China achieved a substantial trade surplus of $107 billion in December, driven by strong goods exports. The total trade exchange reached 5.28 trillion yuan, with goods exports significantly outpacing imports. This surplus in goods trade effectively counterbalanced a services sector deficit, which widened due to increased imports of services.
