KOCHI: KMRL said its net loss declined to ₹352.49 crore in 2025-26 from ₹430.50 crore in the previous financial year, reflecting an improvement in the metro’s overall financial performance.
Managing Director Loknath Behera expressed confidence that the metro’s operational profit would increase further once the second phase connecting Kochi with Smart City and Infopark in Kakkanad becomes operational.
The metro also recorded a major milestone during the year, with average daily ridership crossing the one-lakh mark to reach 1.01 lakh passengers.
KMRL reported total operational revenue of ₹224.65 crore, of which ₹76.33 crore, or nearly 34 per cent, was generated through non-fare revenue streams, highlighting the growing contribution of commercial activities beyond ticket sales.
Kochi Metro Rail Ltd reported an operational profit of ₹52.64 crore in 2025-26, as average daily ridership crossed 1.01 lakh. Net loss narrowed to ₹352.49 crore from ₹430.50 crore, signalling improved financial health. With Phase II to Smart City and Infopark pending, MD Loknath Behera expects profits to rise further, supported by strong non-fare revenue.
