GAZA : UNRWA said it is ramping up efforts to deliver health services, emergency shelter, water distribution, and solid waste removal to the residents of Gaza City. The agency emphasized that it has the equivalent of 6,000 trucks filled with essential supplies, enough to sustain Gaza’s population with six months’ worth of food, as well as hundreds of thousands of tents and shelter materials urgently needed with winter approaching.

However, UNRWA noted that Israeli authorities have prevented the entry of these supplies, leaving critical aid stuck at Gaza’s borders. The agency warned that continued restrictions could deepen the humanitarian crisis, with displaced families facing food shortages, deteriorating sanitation, and exposure to harsh weather conditions.

Meanwhile, the Government Media Office in Gaza reported that only 986 aid trucks have entered the Strip since the recent ceasefire took effect, far short of the 6,600 that were agreed upon in international resolutions.

The sharp contrast between pledged aid and actual delivery underscores the mounting challenges facing relief agencies trying to reach Gaza’s 2.3 million residents, many of whom have been displaced and are relying on dwindling humanitarian support.

Summary

UNRWA has raised alarms over a blockade preventing 6,000 trucks of essential supplies from entering Gaza, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis. Despite agreements, only 986 trucks have entered since the ceasefire, leaving millions at risk of food shortages and harsh weather. The agency warns that continued restrictions could worsen conditions for displaced families.
