BENGALURU : CJ Roy, chairman and founder of Confident Group, was found dead on Friday at his residence on Langford Road in Bengaluru, police said.
Roy was rushed to Narayana Hospital for emergency treatment but was declared dead, police confirmed. Authorities said they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
Sources familiar with the matter said the incident occurred on a day when officials were carrying out action related to ongoing tax matters. Police said Roy had earlier reached his office on Richmond Road in the afternoon before returning to his residence.
Roy-led Confident Projects (India) Pvt Ltd has been involved in tax litigation with India’s Income Tax Department, including cases before the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal and the Karnataka High Court, over assessment and appellate proceedings, according to court records.
Police said standard procedures have been initiated and further details will be shared as the investigation progresses.
