Muscat – August 26, 2025: Starting September 1, delivery riders and supervisors in Oman will not be allowed to work without a professional licence, the Ministry of Labour has announced.
The rule applies to all companies—local, regional, and foreign—with no exceptions. Firms that fail to comply face fines of up to OMR 2,000, licence suspensions, and even jail terms for violators. Unlicensed workers risk deportation.
Licences will be issued by the Logistics Sector Skills Unit, with fees starting at OMR 20. Omani nationals will benefit from reduced rates as part of efforts to boost local employment in the sector.
Officials say the move will tighten regulation, raise service standards, and ensure fair competition in the fast-growing delivery market.
