Abu Dhabi: The UAE’s National Media Office (NMO) has referred a group of social media users to the Federal Public Prosecution for publishing content that breaches the country’s media standards.
The NMO confirmed that its specialized monitoring unit operates continuously to track digital platforms, identifying posts that violate national laws or ethical guidelines. While offenders are usually warned and urged to comply, the authority stressed that persistent or severe breaches will result in legal action.
Officials underlined that the move is part of efforts to maintain a safe and responsible media environment, protecting society from harmful or divisive content. The office reiterated its call for users to respect community values, media ethics, and the legal framework governing online communication.
Earlier, Sheikh Abdullah Al Hamed, Chairman of the NMO and UAE Media Council, reminded content creators that “words are a trust,” urging them to use media responsibly and constructively.
