The tragic incident unfolded in the Wilayat of Suwaiq, where an expatriate woman and an Omani citizen consumed Uranus Star bottled water. The woman died shortly after drinking it, while the Omani man was admitted to hospital in critical condition and later succumbed to poisoning complications. Other members of the affected Omani family were also hospitalized but have since recovered.
Laboratory tests confirmed the presence of harmful substances in the bottled water, leading authorities to immediately withdraw all Uranus Star products from markets. A full recall was initiated across the country, accompanied by a blanket ban on the import of all Iranian bottled water brands until further notice.
Officials have urged citizens and residents not to consume Uranus Star or any bottled water imported from Iran, and to promptly report suspicious products to authorities. Investigations are under way to determine how the contaminated batch entered Oman despite import controls.
