Kuwait: The celebrations come amid significant economic, diplomatic and innovation milestones that reflect the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Emir of the State of Kuwait, in steering the nation towards a prosperous and future-ready era.

This year’s observance highlights Kuwait’s steady progress built on solid economic foundations, humanitarian leadership and a growing international standing.

According to the publication “The State of Kuwait: Firm Roots and Steps Towards the Future,” issued by the Statistical Center of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, Kuwait achieved unprecedented financial and investment surpluses in 2025. These gains were strongly supported by sovereign wealth funds whose assets have surpassed one trillion US dollars. In addition, banking sector assets rose to more than 100 billion Kuwaiti dinars, underlining the strength and stability of the financial system and reinforcing global investor confidence in the national economy.

The Kuwaiti stock exchange recorded gains exceeding 9.6 billion Kuwaiti dinars, further confirming the country’s attractiveness as a competitive and resilient investment destination.

On the global stage, Kuwait secured the 19th position worldwide in the National Brand Value Index. Kuwaiti brands now account for nearly 9 percent of the country’s GDP, among the highest rates internationally, reflecting the growing value and competitiveness of its national enterprises.

Kuwait also ranked among the top ten countries globally in the Global Innovation Index (GII 2025). The achievement is attributed to the rapid development of digital infrastructure, leadership in 5G technologies, strong mobile internet speeds, accelerated government digitisation and the efficiency of its digital workforce. The country’s credit ratings remain in the high category with a stable outlook, strengthening its global economic standing.

The year 2025 witnessed a series of qualitative achievements across multiple sectors. In a major global medical breakthrough, Kuwait executed the most remote robotic surgery across continents. The country also recorded its highest daily gas production rate in 90 years from the “Jaza Marine” field, marking a significant milestone in energy production.

Archaeological discoveries on Failaka Island further reinforced the depth and richness of Kuwaiti civilisation, while the civil aviation sector advanced as a regional model in safety and security standards. Public health laboratories were also upgraded in line with the highest international benchmarks.

Beyond economic and technological strides, Kuwait consolidated its global humanitarian leadership. Relief and international aid efforts continued to position humanitarian work as an integral pillar of Kuwait’s national identity and diplomatic outreach.

Diplomatically, Kuwait registered its first international United Nations resolution in its name in the field of innovation, strengthening its influence on the international stage. The country also celebrated 45 years as a foundational pillar of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC). Through eight historic Kuwaiti summits, it has contributed significantly to advancing Gulf integration, including steps towards the Gulf Common Market, financial market integration, unified environmental and logistical systems, and support for Arab economic development.

Summary

In 2025, Kuwait celebrates National Day with remarkable economic and global achievements. Under Emir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's leadership, the country boasts record financial surpluses, innovation in digital infrastructure, and humanitarian leadership.
