This came during a Lebanese cabinet session chaired by Lebanese President Joseph Aoun at Baabda Palace. The presidency stated in a statement that the government also approved Lebanon's implementation of the National Accord Document, known as the Taif Agreement, and UN Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 1701, and taking the necessary steps to fully extend its sovereignty over all its territories.

The statement explained that the implementation of the National Accord Document also aims to strengthen the role of legitimate institutions, consolidate the state's exclusive authority to make decisions regarding war and peace, and ensure that the possession of weapons is restricted to the state alone throughout Lebanon.

The statement added that the Lebanese government agreed to ensure the continuity of the cessation of hostilities in all its forms through systematic steps leading to a permanent, comprehensive, and guaranteed solution and the gradual end of the armed presence of all non-governmental entities south and north of the Litani River and throughout Lebanese territory.

The statement indicated that the government approved the deployment of the Lebanese army in the border areas and key internal locations, with appropriate support, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the five border points they still occupy, and the settlement of all issues through diplomatic means through indirect negotiations, in addition to the return of civilians in border villages and towns to their homes.

The statement noted that the American paper also includes a guarantee of the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory and the cessation of all hostilities, in addition to a permanent and visible demarcation of the international border between the two sides.

He stated that the US envoy's paper includes holding an international economic conference with the participation of several countries to support the Lebanese economy and reconstruction.
