Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala politics has been rocked by explosive allegations against Youth Congress state president and Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkoottathil, after Malayalam actor Rini Ann George and Dubai-based writer Honey Bhaskaran accused him of obscene and inappropriate behavior.

Allegations by Rini Ann George

Actor and former journalist Rini Ann George alleged that Mamkoottathil had sent her obscene messages and even invited her to a hotel around three and a half years ago. She claimed that despite raising concerns with the party leadership at the time, no action was taken. According to her, Mamkoottathil dismissed the matter with the remark, “Who cares?” Rini Ann further stated that several other women had similar experiences but chose to remain silent due to political pressure.

Testimony from Writer Honey Bhaskaran

Dubai-based writer Honey Bhaskaran also came forward with allegations, stating that Mamkoottathil initially contacted her over a casual conversation about travel but later continued messaging her in an inappropriate manner. When she stopped responding, she claimed, he attempted to discredit her within the Youth Congress by falsely suggesting she had initiated the communication.

Political Fallout

The allegations have sparked political uproar in Kerala. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a protest march to Mamkoottathil’s office, demanding his resignation. However, as of now, the Youth Congress leadership has not issued an official statement or announced disciplinary measures against him.

The controversy has drawn sharp public attention, with calls for accountability and transparency in handling the charges.
