Mumbai: The ceremony will be held at Patna’s historic Gandhi Maidan, marking yet another milestone in Kumar’s decades-long political journey.
JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar was formally chosen as the leader of the NDA in Bihar during a meeting of newly elected MLAs from alliance partners. State minister Shrawon Kumar confirmed that the proposal to elect Kumar as the NDA leader was moved by JD(U)’s Vijay Choudhary and seconded by senior BJP leaders Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Sinha. MLAs representing LJP(RV), HAM, and RLM also supported the proposal, reflecting a united front within the alliance.
Earlier in the day, Kumar was also elected as the leader of the JD(U)’s legislature party in a meeting held at ‘Samvad’, the Chief Minister’s Secretariat. The gathering was attended by all newly elected JD(U) MLAs and 22 Legislative Council members, reaffirming the party’s confidence in his leadership.
The NDA secured a strong mandate in the Bihar Assembly elections, winning 202 out of 243 seats. The seat distribution saw BJP emerge with 89 seats, JD(U) close behind with 85, LJP(RV) securing 19, HAM winning 5, and RLM adding 4 seats to the alliance tally.
