Riyadh: The Red Sea Destination, often called The Red Sea, is a flagship regenerative tourism megaproject on Saudi Arabia’s western coast. Spanning more than 28,000 square kilometres, the development forms a core pillar of Saudi Vision 2030, with plans for over 1,000 luxury residences and 50 hotels offering more than 8,000 rooms across 22 islands and six inland sites.
Ronaldo’s villas are located at Nujuma, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, one of only nine Ritz-Carlton Reserve Residences worldwide. According to developer Red Sea Global, the football star has invested in two of the project’s 19 ultra-private villas, a two-bedroom residence designed for intimate escapes and a larger three-bedroom villa for family stays. The couple has visited the destination multiple times since the resorts began opening in 2023.
The Red Sea project was announced in July 2017 by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Located in Tabuk Province, between the cities of Umluj and Al-Wajh, the area features a 200-kilometre coastline, desert landscapes, beaches, mountains, ancient volcanoes, and more than 90 untouched offshore islands.
The destination’s phased rollout has gathered pace, with Six Senses Southern Dunes welcoming guests in November 2023, followed by St. Regis Hotels and Resorts in January 2024, Nujuma in May 2024, Shebara Resort in October 2024, Desert Rock Resort in December 2024, and three Shura Island resorts scheduled for September 2025.
With its emphasis on privacy, sustainability, and world-class amenities, Nujuma has quickly become a magnet for celebrities, industrialists, and billionaires seeking seclusion at the height of luxury.
